Knowledge transfer & translation - major unmet challenges
The academic world creates understanding and knowledge. Some of that is brought to use, much is not. There are several ways in which an academic person can interact with society to transfer knowledge. It can be with media or the public directly, the school world, industry or the political and policy worlds. All these require special considerations, understanding, ample time and endorsement from the academic setting. It is imperative for the universities to interact much more with society.
